Intent for Personal Development Curriculum
At Belmont Park School we have a carefully crafted Personal Development curriculum and are committed to equipping our students with the emotional intelligence, life skills, and resilience needed to thrive in their futures. By embedding the values of success, trust, ambition, and respect throughout all aspects of our school life, we aim to prepare our students not only for academic success but for a life of personal fulfillment, positive relationships, and active citizenship.
1. Success
We aim to help students recognize their own strengths, talents, and potential, guiding them to understand that success comes in many forms. By providing a broad range of opportunities to excel—whether academically, socially, or personally—we will ensure each student can celebrate their achievements and develop a growth mindset. Success in our curriculum is defined by the progress our students make, both big and small, and their ability to overcome challenges with resilience and self-belief.
2. Trust
Trust is the foundation of our school community. Our curriculum is built on creating safe, supportive spaces where students can be themselves, express their thoughts, and make mistakes without fear of judgment. By fostering positive relationships with peers and staff, we help students understand the value of trust in building strong connections, collaborative work, and a sense of security that encourages them to take risks and engage fully in their learning.
3. Ambition
Ambition is the driving force behind personal growth and achievement. Through a carefully structured curriculum, we encourage students to dream big and pursue their goals with determination and perseverance. By exposing them to a range of career pathways, higher education options, and personal aspirations, we help students recognize the power of hard work, resilience, and self-motivation in reaching their goals. We will guide them in setting realistic, achievable targets and celebrate their progress along the way, instilling a lifelong passion for learning and self-improvement.
4. Respect
Respect for oneself and others is essential in creating a harmonious and inclusive environment. Our curriculum teaches students the importance of empathy, active listening, and understanding diverse perspectives. Through group activities, discussions, and role modeling, students will learn how to express their thoughts and feelings respectfully while appreciating and valuing the differences of others. In doing so, they will develop the skills necessary to build positive relationships and contribute meaningfully to their community.
